Our Story

A Place to Call Home

Bridge Point Independent Living was founded on a simple belief: stable housing changes everything.

Our Story

Why Bridge Point Began

Bridge Point began with the recognition that independence is often expected without considering whether individuals have had the stability, resources, or opportunities needed to build it.

That understanding shaped the vision for Bridge Point: a home that provides stability and room to focus on what comes next, while respecting each housemate's ability to manage their own life, responsibilities, and decisions.

Our Mission

An Alternative Path to Housing

To provide an alternative housing option for individuals facing barriers to traditional housing, creating a foundation for stability, independence, and meaningful growth.

Our Vision

Building Stability. Inspiring Independence.

Our vision is to create a community where a stable home helps bridge the gap between where housemates are today and the future they envision for themselves. We want that experience to have a lasting impact, giving each person a foundation they can carry into their next chapter and beyond.

Lameka S. Walker, Founder & Owner of Bridge Point Independent Living

Meet the Founder

Lameka S. Walker

Founder & Owner

Lameka S. Walker’s approach to Bridge Point is shaped by more than 17 years in K–12 and higher education. Through her work in education, disability services, and residential life, she has seen how a supportive environment can help people build confidence, navigate challenges, and move toward greater independence.

Throughout her career, she has coordinated daily operations, responded to concerns, supported access to resources, and helped maintain organized living and learning environments. These experiences have shaped her appreciation for clear communication, dependable follow-through, and treating people with respect.

At Bridge Point, Lameka brings that approach to the everyday details of shared living—from preparing for a housemate’s arrival to communicating expectations and addressing household concerns. She believes a welcoming home depends on both the physical space and the care taken in how it is managed.

Originally from Queens, New York, Lameka grew up in Georgia and now calls Evans home. She is a mother to a college-aged son and is pursuing a master's degree in Higher Education Administration. As both a parent and a student, she understands the commitment involved in balancing everyday responsibilities with goals for the future.

That understanding is personal, too. Having experienced seasons of change, uncertainty, and rebuilding, Lameka knows that life does not always follow the path we planned. She values the breathing room a stable home can offer while someone regroups and considers a new direction.

As Founder & Owner, Lameka is committed to creating homes where housemates are treated with dignity, their independence is respected, and they have room to decide what comes next for themselves.

"We Create the Environment. You Create the Journey."
